Tutti i nodi vengono al pettine

In English this Italian idiom translates as “chickens always come home to roost” or “your sins will find you out”. The literal translation “all knots come to the comb”! In Italian un nodo is a knot and un pettine is a comb. Just learned this proverb today and I think it’s a good one! New vocabulary for me as well!

Fun! I love to learn Italian proverbs. It helps to remember the language and also gives insight into the culture. If you want, visit ConversationalItalian.wordpress.com for my (almost weekly) Italian saying I post on Fridays.
